An awkward teen devotes his time with a classmate that has
been diagnosed with cancer.
“Everyone was going to find out sooner or later. I just hate
having to share everything about myself.”
This is my favorite independent movie ever! The cast are brilliantly
written and acted well, the humor is perfect, and it will stick with you for
years. The three teens the film is centered on (Greg, Earl, and Rachel) capture
what it’s like being a teen and struggling to make friends in school while also
trying to make a future in life after graduating. The film explains how
important friends are in life no matter what. Something that is so relevant and
true no matter how old you get. Some of you might think that this sounds like a
depressing movie cause of its title, yes and no. It’s a coming of age film with
humor, charm, and ton of sad parts cause cancer is a horrible disease. But the
way these Greg and Earl try to make Rachel a happy person is what makes it
worth seeing more than once. If you haven’t seen this then most definitely
watch it with a box of tissues.
